The Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) has been selected as a host agency for the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2024 Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship (CEIF). As a program participant, the IUB will mentor a selected program Fellow in work that focuses on studying and analyzing critical energy issues. The IUB proposed the project “Effective Engagement in SPP and MISO Transmission Planning” as part of the CEIF program.
In connection with the project, the Fellow will provide qualitative analysis in transmission planning, cost allocation, siting, and permitting processes and will look at emerging trends in generation technologies, future load growth, and new technologies and best practice methods in transmission planning.
The CEIF offers a paid position for up to two years for recent grads and established energy pros to work with utilities, electric cooperatives, grid operators, state energy offices, and other industry groups to support clean energy projects.
The CEIF is seeking candidates who have experience with qualitative analysis, regulatory processes, and stakeholder engagement, along with interest in renewable energy generation, transmission infrastructure, and risk and threat assessment.
Applications will be accepted through May 3 for positions across the United States. The DOE and IUB will collaborate to find the right candidate for the position. Fellow positions will begin between June and August 2024 and onboarding webinars will be scheduled for the successful candidates and mentors.
The CEIF offers hands-on experience with critical energy organizations and supporting projects that will help decarbonize power systems and bolster energy resilience. Learn more about the program and apply by May 3.
