The Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC) today announced the resignation of Commissioner Erik Helland, effective September 4, 2026. With a quorum of two commissioners, the IUC will retain its full authority to conduct business and issue orders until the vacancy is filled.
Helland was appointed to the IUC on May 1, 2023, for a term that expires April 30, 2029.
The Governor fills vacancies for the unexpired portion of a term in the same manner as full-term appointments are made. The appointment would then be subject to Senate confirmation.
